Uvita is an amazing town in the heart of the Costa Ballena here in the Southern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and home to the Marino Ballena National Park, a national marine park famous for the whales tale beach formation and its fabulous empty beaches. Uvita also has 1500 ft mountains that come down and almost meet the sea and many amazing waterfalls and other natural features that make it stand out as one of the best areas in Costa Rica. Because of its central location Uvita is also the commercial center of the Costa Ballena and you will find everything you need including hotels, restaurants, tour agencies, banks, many stores, and several international private schools. Some of the activities you will find here include surfing, horseback riding, paragliding, snorkeling, scuba diving, whale watching, ATV tours, waterfall tours, and many many more. Many foreigners live on the mountains with incredible ocean views and views of the famous whales tale while many people also choose to live down by the beach where there are several great communities where you can walk to the beach and you don’t need a 4×4 to get home. Just north of Uvita is Playa Hermosa which is one of the nicest beaches in Southern Costa Rica and is famous for its amazing surfing waves and endless stretches of sand where you can walk for hours. There are several other nice beaches in the area and it is no wonder why so many people make Uvita their home.
