Perched high in the hills of Matapalo, with thirty foot high windows and an open concept layout, this unique three bedroom residence situated on six acres (24,651 m²) of land presents an exceptional combination of panoramic Pacific Ocean views, unforgettable sunsets, easy accessibility, privacy and luxury tropical living. The elevated setting is one of the property’s defining features. From various vantage points in the home and throughout the several outdoor living spaces, expansive ocean views create a dramatic backdrop throughout the day while evenings bring some of the most impressive sunsets along Costa Rica’s South Pacific Coast.
Privacy begins before you even arrive at the residence. Access to the property is through two gated entrances with a concrete road extending from the first gate all the way to the second gate and home yard. The road provides convenient year-round access while the gates and fenced-in yard create an added sense of security and exclusivity. Before reaching the home yard there is also a second cleared area of land offering the potential for additional limited development such as a large pool lounging area, yoga deck, work shed or guesthouse. Upon arrival at the home yard there is covered parking for two vehicles along with additional uncovered parking. The home is thoughtfully distributed across three levels, taking advantage of its hillside position and spectacular surroundings. One can enter the home from the first level stairs or via the outside walkway to the second floor patio area.
The first level welcomes you into an intimate living area that includes two comfortable bedrooms, a full bathroom, a dedicated laundry area and a separate storage room along with a large entry closet.
An internal staircase from the first level leads to the second level, the heart of the residence, where a grand, open concept living space incorporates an expansive kitchen, a dining area and two distinct living areas to create an inviting environment for entertaining and everyday living. The home is unique in its layout, resembling a warehouse style loft with thirty foot high windows that flaunt stunning ocean views from almost any vantage point. The kitchen boasts an incredible fifteen by four foot island, two sinks and modern appliances, perfect for the family that loves to cook and entertain. This floor also includes a half bathroom and large storage area behind the kitchen.
The multiple patio doors on the second floor provide a seamless flow between the interior of the house and the outdoor spaces incorporating the ocean views and tropical surroundings into one’s everyday living experience. Just outside is the expansive deck, which includes a small pool, BBQ area and large lounge area to provide the perfect setting for entertaining guests, soaking in the pool, relaxing in the sun and enjoying sunset evenings overlooking the Pacific.
The third level of the house is designed as an open walkway connecting a landing at the front of the house to the third bedroom at the back. The landing can be set up as another sitting room or office area with an outdoor balcony area for a quiet reading place. The primary bedroom is large and magnificent. Positioned on the upper level of the home, it is a peaceful and private retreat away from the main living spaces. Just off the primary bedroom is a huge bathroom featuring open showers, two sinks and a showcase bathtub. Outside this bathroom you will find an outdoor shower on one side and a secluded outdoor space on the other side. There is also a large storage area and closet off this bedroom.
Air conditioning units and king size beds in all three bedrooms provide first class comfort. The kitchen is fully equipped and fully furnished. The house also has several storage areas which is a huge bonus.
With three bedrooms, multiple levels of indoor and outdoor living, a private pool, gated access, concrete road accessibility and truly remarkable ocean and sunset views, this uniquely designed Matapalo property offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for those seeking a distinctive home on Costa Rica’s South Pacific Coast.
