Pavones is a surfer’s paradise. It is famous for the second longest left point break in the world which breaks for over 1 km and rides can last for over 2 minutes. There are also several other amazing waves in the area. It is located in the very southern part of Costa Rica on the Gulfo Dulce, a tropical deep water fjord that is home to many species of fish as well as dolphins and one of the places that the humpback whales come every year to mate and have their babies. Most of the Gulfo Dulce is only accessible by boat and the land is protected in various national parks. Pavones is a small sleepy town that wakes up when there is swell.
