Jaco is the first beach town that you get to when driving from San Jose on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and is also one of the most developed beaches in the country. It’s a 1.5 hour drive from the international airport making it a great destination especially for shorter vacations. For this reason it is a great place to invest as many tourists will base their trip out of Jaco. The town itself is right on the beach which is a great beach for swimming and when the swell picks up the waves can be fun too. But if you are there for surfing you can drive 5 min south to Playa Hermosa where the waves are much more advanced. Jaco has many options for accommodations and it is one of the only beaches with tall buildings right on the sand. You can stay on the 17th floor of Croc’s Casino Resort and enjoy incredible views with all of the amenities of a luxury resort including their casino and beachfront pool. From Jaco you can easily participate in almost every activity that Costa Rica has to offer including surfing, white water rafting, ATV tours, ziplining, and waterfall tours. Jaco also has many great options for dining and if you are looking for nightlife then this is the place to be. It is only 10 min south of Los Suenos resort which has a world class 18 hole golf course and one of the best marinas in the country where you can go deep sea fishing and catch marlin, sailfish, tuna, and mahi mahi along with many other types of fish. If you love nature but you are looking for some action then Jaco is the place to be.
